Enjoy crisp, buttery-sweet greens all season long with Buttercrunch Lettuce Seeds (Lactuca sativa). This All-America Selections (AAS) award-winning Bibb-style variety forms compact rosettes of green leaves with a tender yellow heart—delivering exceptional flavor and garden performance.
Sweet, Tender & Reliable:
Buttercrunch is prized for its rich, mild taste and melt-in-your-mouth texture, making it one of the most popular lettuces for salads, wraps, and sandwiches. Its attractive rosette form often features hints of red along the leaf edges, adding beauty and color to your garden and plate.
Why Gardeners Love Buttercrunch Lettuce:
- AAS award-winning heirloom Bibb-style lettuce
- Sweet, buttery flavor with tender, crisp leaves
- Compact rosette shape with green leaves and pale yellow center
- Heat-tolerant and slow to bolt, ideal for extended harvests
- Suitable for garden beds, containers, or hydroponic systems
- Non-GMO, open-pollinated seed for reliable growth
How to Grow:
Sow seeds ¼ inch deep in cool, moist, well-drained soil. Start indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost or direct sow outdoors when soil is workable. Space plants 6–10 inches apart. Buttercrunch thrives in full sun but benefits from light shade in hotter climates. Water consistently to encourage tender, sweet leaves and prevent bitterness. Matures in about 65–75 days.
Harvest & Enjoy:
Harvest outer leaves for a continuous supply of fresh greens, or cut the full rosette when mature. The sweet, delicate flavor makes Buttercrunch lettuce perfect for gourmet salads and fresh wraps. Its slow-bolting nature ensures delicious harvests even in warmer weather.
